Microsoft admits that premature hype destroys games

Phil Spencer confessed that they prematurely discovered, now canceled, Scalebound and it ruined the game, because nobody believed that they could justify the expectations of the fans.You will remember that  Scalebound should have been great Microsoft's exclusive, and Platinum Games were working on it, so we were quite excited about the game. Then Microsoft disappointed everyone when the game was suddenly canceled. E3 The Conferences - Sony Playstation

Closing the conference schedule was Playstation's offering or, as they now call it, their E3 Media Showcase. Despite some technical difficulties, on Twitch at least, what was shown was strong. And this was "all about the games" once again, with no presentations by developers, only Shaun Layton appearing to welcome everyone and close out. A Ubisoft E3 press conference without Aisha Tyler hosting, can it work? What made the Ubisoft conference stand out in the past become a by the numbers reveal show. E3 The Conferences - The PC Gaming Show

Back for its third year with regular host, Sean 'Day[9]' Plott, the chat show-esque show delivered a mixed bag of new and previously seen titles.Kicking things off was the exclusive reveal of X-COM 2: War of the Chosen.New features include classes, enemies, environments, three factions and an evolving Chosen that dogs you throughout the new campaign, it's abilities improving alongside your own. E3 The Conferences - Bethesda & Devolver Digital

Bethesda's turn now and, well, it felt kind of a disappointment after Microsoft's reveals.The talking point here was the reveal of the Creation Club, an in-game mod database for Fallout 4 and Skyrim: Special Edition on the three main platforms, PS4, Xbox and PC. The problem is that the FAQ wording states "credits' would be used for acquiring individual mods. Is this a return to paid mods that went down so well on Steam? So here it is. Microsoft's Project Scorpio is officially The Xbox One X. Boasting true 4k resolutions, or super sampling if you do not own a 4k television yet, this liquid cooled beast of a console will be released November 7th for $499.Backwards compatibility was addressed for both the new and existing consoles. The Xbox One X will be fully compatible with all existing Xbox One titles, offering a power boost to boot. But the Xbox One was not left behind. E3 starts here with the first (non) E3 conference. For the second year, Electronic Arts forego the annual expo for their own week long event. Steam Changes - Publishing a game on Steam will now cost 100$

Developers who wish to publish their game on Steam will now have to pay a hundred dollars per game, in contrast to the current practice where the fee was payed only once.When Valve announced removal of Steam Greenlight and a transition on to the Steam Direct model, one thing was alarming for independent game developers.
