Peripheral instrument-based rhythm games really became a thing (at least in the west) during the mid-2000s, with Red Octane’s (and later Activison’s) ‘Guitar Hero’ title for the Playstation 2. But between 1999 and 2007 Konami had already been releasing various versions of their GuitarFreaks, DrumMania, KeyboardMania and BeatMania games for Playstation consoles in Japan. E3 The Conferences - Sony Playstation

Closing the conference schedule was Playstation's offering or, as they now call it, their E3 Media Showcase. Despite some technical difficulties, on Twitch at least, what was shown was strong. And this was "all about the games" once again, with no presentations by developers, only Shaun Layton appearing to welcome everyone and close out.
