SOS OPS! is a game reminiscent of games like Human Fall Flat, Gang Beasts, Unreliable Delivery Service etc. where it's simple in nature and gameplay, but the biggest thing you're fighting is the controls and the physics, the feature that makes this game different then all the other ones is only in the missions themselves. You'll start by helping somebody move in their new house, or saving cats from trees to fixing amusement park rides and hosing down fires.
When I say you fight against the controls I do mean it. While it is a custom to make these types of games more difficult to control so they look wobbly and wonky, the controls in this game are really awkward and take a bit to get kind of used to. For example, you can only jump with a little hop unless you are running, and climbing, don't even get me started on the climbing. What was a brilliant way to show some skill and skip parts of levels in Human Fall Flat, in SOS OPS! it is sometimes required to swing around the building and slowly climb up, the normal ledge climbing still has the same controls where you grab ledges and lift yourself by moving the camera up or down while gripping the ledge with both hands. You can also drive vehicles in this game but the controls are incredibly slippery and can get annoying when trying to navigate a big vehicle into a smaller garage door.
Another thing I kind of with this game did was go for the open world approach and finding missions like that because these games are way more fun when you just derp around in sandbox then when you're focusing on missions. You spawn in a hub, choose a mission on the computer, and then do the mission as fast as possible for the best score. A good thing in the game is that, even though the game should appear as janky and wobbly, I didn't encounter any bugs.
While the city location where the majority of the game takes place is interesting, the best level by far was the amusement park. There was just so much to do and see in that level. Now I will do a 180 here and say that this is an extremely fun "openish" world level, but the actual time limit to get the best score is downright impossible. Maybe it was made for a full party of four people but damn, it took me around 50 minutes to finish everything. The one thing about this level that absolutely frustrated me and made me almost quit the game is the crossbow part, I'm not even lying, it took me 20 minutes to shoot one crossbow dart correctly because it just didn't properly work.
SOS OPS! had quite a few frustrating moments like that. There's another once close to the end of the power plant level where you have to shut the power off and to do that you have to do this crazy parkour maneuvering to jump onto this large lever by jumping up boxes. It might sound easy but this game really wasn't made for jumping and climbing something like that. There's also the obnoxious puzzles that I hate in every game that uses them wrong. You know the ones where you have to push buttons in order and if you mess it up it resets, but you don't get any hints you just press them until you figure out the order, and then they mix it up where it's the same type of puzzle but it's not buttons but levers this time. It just feels lazy and you know they put those in there just to prolong the length of the level.
SOS OPS! could be a fun game to play with friends but I would not recommend it as a single player experience. While I do appreciate the care put into this game, it's not really unique and there are other games like this that just do it better.
