I have to admit, that I really enjoy farming games. If you love Stardew Valley, you will love this cute farming game as well. Cornucopia is so much more than your average farming game and is definitely not to be underestimated.
The adventure aspect of it is light and pretty straight forward, but in depth at the same time. You were found in a frozen block of ice in the mines and are taken to the hospital. You leave the hospital with no memory, but luckily there is a house available to you in Cornucopia, it just needs a little work. You even get a talking dog out of the deal, just don't forget to feed him or he will leave you a special stinky treat by the shipping box.
As you wander the town, you might notice someone sneakily snapping pictures of you. A little later, you meet Naomi, who lets you know that you were in the middle of a cave-in 100 years ago, when there was magic in the town. Now she has you are a mission to help get the magic back. Of course this involves fighting monsters, finding items, and making friends with people in the town.
I started with figuring out the farming aspect of the game. The farming is more much more involved than other games I have played previously. It is not as simple as just plant, water and harvest. You have to have the correct soil conditions, which involves composting and then adding compost to soil. Then you have to make sure that you are getting the different seeds into the proper type of soil. The size of the produce is important for cooking, so planting them properly is imperative if you want to cook.

Once you've got that going, you can get back to the story line. There are a lot of people to meet and get to know. Romancing is possible and is very involved in comparison to similar games. You have to talk to your prospective partner a number of times, find out what they like and give them gifts, meet them places, and just romance them overall. There is at least one pretty cute instance of some romantic drama, but I will let you find out more about that yourself.
Battling is pretty simple, no actual weapons that I acquired while I played though. I used a torch and my tools, but they were quite effective. I also took my pet rooster, who could really kick some butt when he wanted to. The tutorials are simple, but helpful, and they pop up as you discover new things. I personally prefer to get the info as it becomes relevant, so I like this method.
Old Mine Tutorial Screen
Very similar to other games, you go through the old mines one level at a time. You go through ten levels of the mine and then encounter a boss There are also secret doors to be found as you break rocks and other obstacles looking for the next ladder down. The mystery doors can lead to some pretty good loot, watch out though, because I did blow myself up when I picked a vase with a bomb in it. I survived though and made out pretty good!
Mystery Door Old Mine Battle
There are so many other aspects of this game, that I can't cover them all in this review. Scratch cards, for instance, are a whole world of their own. Some you can use to gain items, others change the weather, allow you to gain different abilities, or increase the chances of certain things happening, and others have quests attached to them or will give you a reward if you talk to a certain person. There can be a lot going on at times, which makes you wonder what you should be doing, because you want to do it all! It is really easy to put a LOT of hours into this game and really enjoy every minute of it.
When it comes down to it, what you really want to know is "Is this game worth it?". My answer: Yes, it definitely is. If you enjoy games of this style, you will NOT be disappointed in the slightest. It is cute and fun, mysterious and mystical, romantic and comical. I really believe it has a little something for everyone, and personally, I will be continuing to play it and I hope you choose to join me.
