Update on OP Giveaways
img

Dear Opium Pulses Website Users,

Since the launch of our giveaways beta early this month, we've had a lot of feedback, some pointing out what is loved and some pointing out what we could have, and should have done better.

We've listened to every bit of feedback and as some of you may have noticed, winner picking is currently flawed and is often sending notifications and sometimes even emails to multiple winners, regardless of how many keys the giveaway contains.

This is something we aren't happy with, and are putting every effort in to making sure it works flawlessly before we officially announce this to our larger member base on Steam. However, and this is the bad news - we aren't happy with the winner picking system as a whole, and this shines more true the larger the giveaway - this means there is sadly no quick fix.

For example, the Raywin giveaway that ended during the release week of the giveaways platform picked and distributed keys to 1,100 winners, but barely. It took up to 15 minutes, slowed down the site for other users and even sent a handful of single keys to multiple users. What this means for us, is the current system can't just be given a band aid - it needs to be completely re-designed.

Our web developer is spending the next few weeks building that functionality from the ground up to match the level of quality our members have come to expect from us. Until then, the beta will continue to run - some users might experience glitches like false notifications or achievement unlocking, but one true user will always be rewarded per key in each giveaway. While we work to fix the winner picking system, we'd appreciate feedback directed at other aspects of the page, such as general design and features they like/dislike.

Remember, this is an open beta. While we want each giveaways to start and end perfectly, this is the first time we've done anything like this and there will be glitches, so while we aren't replacing keys for users who were falsely notified of winning during beta, we will be offering one on one support for all giveaways that end after we officially launch.

TL;DR - The giveaways beta has brought some issues to our attention that we are not happy with, we are building the winner picking system from the ground up and will continue to run the beta for website users until a more polished system has been implemented. Please ignore false-positives for giveaways you have not won and continue reporting others bugs and feedback to us as usual.

Thanks to all our beautiful members for your continued patience and support. We aim to release something that will make each and every one of you proud to be a member of OP.

The Opium Pulses Administration Team.

As an update, we believe most of the issues listed in the announcement above have since been 100% fixed. We're running a few more large giveaways to test for any last minute bugs, and if all is well, we'll begin setting up and reactivating our much larger launch giveaways and get the party started!
